We feel blessed

In general (Smile & Say Hello, Keep in touch, Don’t be afraid, Eat local food, Take many photos)

Food

When in Panama, don’t miss a meal at the fish market. It is a must.

Transports

In Panama there is a lot of traffic jam due to one-way driving in the old town.

Do not drive during the night in Nicaragua. The roads are dark and it is very difficult to avoid bikers, motorbikes and pedestrians. The distances are short, but the traffic jam in the capital is nightmarish…

Never underestimate the traffic jam in Costa Rica too. The success of your journey may well depend upon it…

In Mexico City, for short stops, like ours, the hotel at the airport could be a relief since you will not have to move by car in the city. Traffic in Mexico could turn out hellish…

General

Keep in touch with sites referring to the volcanoes so as to have an idea about their activity and check in advance possible road closures, so as not to be found yourselves in front of any unfortunate surprises as far as their access.

The Processions of the Holly Week

If you are in Nicaragua or in Costa Rica during the Holly Week do not miss the Processions. In both countries the Catholic Tradition is followed and it is enriched with many local elements. The Holly Week’s Processions in Nicaragua, though, are of great interest and are the following:

The donkey Procession ή Palm Procession: It takes place on Palm Sunday and it symbolizes the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It is accompanied by philharmonic orchestras (known as Chicheros in Nicaragua).

Stations of the Cross: It symbolizes the painful journey traveled by Jesus to his place of death and it takes place on Good Friday morning.

The Service of Darkness: It takes place also on Good Friday morning and it symbolizes Jesus’ death and burial. Jesus’ statue is carried around the streets, followed by worshippers who carry candles. The band is playing funeral songs.

The Reunion: It is a celebrative Procession full of joy and happy music.
It symbolizes Jesus’ reunion with Mary after his Resurrection and it takes place on Easter Sunday.

The Judea: A very important religious tradition in Nicaragua.
It is about a theatrical show portraying the last days of Jesus till his Crucifixion.
The actors play the roles of Jesus and his followers, the Roman soldiers, the Two Thieves and Mary Magdalena.
The Judea takes place in the streets during the whole Holly Week and it is played fragmentarily.

Sights

Panama

An absolute must see, Panama City's historic quarter known as the Casco Viejo (monument of Universal Heritage of UNESCO) is situated at the city's southeast corner, where timeless streets and plazas are complemented by views of a modern skyline.
It is a beautiful mix of Spanish colonial, neoclassical, and art nouveau architecture.
A few places here were used as settings for the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace.

Plaza Bolivar, surrounded by 19th century architecture is one of Casco Viejo’s most interesting spots, along with the Cathedral and Iglesia de la Merced.

Don’t miss a visit to Miraflores Visitor Centre, the best spot for observing how the canal works.

Don’t forget to buy a Panama Hat, probably the most wonderful souvenir from your journey in Panama!

Nicaragua

Visit Masaya Volcano National Park, go on a ferry trip to Ometepe Island, don’t miss National Park Charco Verde and the natural springs Ojo de Agua.

Pay an honorary visit to the magnificent colonial cities of Granada and Leon.

Costa Rica

Visit Manuel Antonio National Park, Poas Volcano National Park and book an excursion to Cano Negro Wild Life Refugee.
The boat trip to River Frio is an unforgettable experience for rare wildlife lovers, since it offers an amazing biodiversity of fauna and flora.
