1st of May
Labor Day…

It was raining when we woke up next day.
We had our breakfast, took our rainproof jackets and walked down town, to the central railway station.

There were people everywhere.
They were dressed in the national colors of Mozambique and were singing and dancing.
They were all celebrating their bank holiday, the 1st of May.
The rain was quite heavy and there was also a strong presence of the police.

We admired the building of the central railway station, which is considered one of the 10 most beautiful railway station buildings in the world.

At some point the celebrating parades reached the end, the people left and the rain stopped.
We paid a visit to the fortress and to its little museum.

Afterwards we went to the beach, where we sat for beers and coffee at Campo di Mare. We enjoyed the views of the city and watched the tide which was approaching from far away, from the Indian Ocean.

We spent the rest of our afternoon driving with our car on the central roads of Maputo.
