Bean soup at the most famous resort in Cuba

A rich breakfast, our swimming costumes and of we went!
We had a stop at Holguin to see the sightseeing Loma de la Cruz, on the Hill of the Cross.

We continued on the Carretera Central, covering parts of a course that we had seen before.
We arrived at Ciego de Avila and from then on we continued towards Moron and  Cayo Coco, one of the most famous resorts in Cuba.
It is an island situated on the North Shore of Cuba, which belongs to a complex of islands that the Spanish named Jardines del Rey, meaning the Gardens of the King.

Cayo Coco is connected to the mainland of Cuba at the area of Moron, through a road which was built upon a stone substrate, on the shallow waters of the sea. The Cubans call it Pedraplen .

We crossed Pedraplen, seeing around us waters in blue and green colours, thick, virgin vegetation and pink flamingos. We arrived at Memories Flamengo, where we were going to sleep for the night.
Nice hotel, well taken care of, with a beautiful beach, where we  had our first swimming in the Caribbean.

The beach’s white sand, the seawaters with the beautiful colors and a magic sunset, made us, almost, forget the skepticism and the inevitable feeling of disappointment for all the things we were seeing and living so far in Cuba…

Afterwards we had a delicious dinner from the buffet, where we ignored the prawns, that some were giving a real battle for, and ate bean soup and fresh salad with fried calamari.
As a dessert we chose to have a rich rice pudding.
After our really wonderful dinner, we were lucky enough to have wi-fi at last and to enjoy a good night’s sleep…
