Montreal

28th of September
A breathing space of serenity…

After having enjoyed our breakfast, we left our hotel, with its attics and terraces.
After a stormy night, we enjoyed Quebec, within a breathing space of serenity, with no rain at all.
The falling leaves were covering everything and had amazing colors. We took the road down to the Vieux Port.
The river was offering a dreamy landscape in the fog.

With an air of French style…

We continued in parallel with the river and took the motorway that would lead us to Montreal.
That was one of the most beautiful courses, in the whole journey.
The weather had changed, just before we arrived there.
We crossed the bridge Charles de Gaulle and entered the island of Montreal.
It is the largest second city of Canada, at the confluence of the rivers Lorenzo and Ottawa.

The idyllic historic centre, the Vieux – Montreal, with its many old buildings and its narrow roads has an air of French style.
The town hall, the Hotel de Ville, is the most characteristic building of the city and it was built with imperial architectural style in 1872.
We walked on its cobbled streets, admired the Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours Chapel and then continued towards the jetty Quai D’ Orloge, which is one of the most characteristic spots in the city. At a small distance, there was the bridge of the port too.
Meanwhile, the weather had improved significantly.

We visited, by car, the jetty King Edward, which has become a tourist destination.
We moved towards Ville Souterraine, an underground building complex of porticoes, roads and shops, a real subway city, indeed. This building complex connects, practically, all the spots of interest and its habitants can move around the city, without having to be exposed to the rough weather conditions, during the winter.

We were at the square Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle and we could see steams coming out from everywhere!!!

At the Ville Souterraine we realized that an exhibition of hairdressing products was taking place and we stopped by, for a little while, so as to watch it.
We continued towards the modern part of the city and then towards the Cathedral and the central station.

Criminal repetition of offending behavior…

We took with us the last pictures of the city, before starting our course to the airport, where from we would take our flight back home, landing to London first and then to Thessaloniki.

I had a colorful kaleidoscope of places and sights in my mind, which I would have to combine afterwards. Every such a journey makes really urgent the need that we feel, when it comes to going to new places, to making new discoveries and becoming communicants of the beauty of our planet…

What we were saying about criminal repetition of offending behavior???

Is it too serious, Doctor???
Should I be worried???
