What if the sharks…eat us???

Christos, with the insatiable thirst of the neophyte, as far as snorkeling and underwater photos and video shootings, could not resist to my suggestion for a four hours cruise to the waters of Rarotonga, this time. With a smaller catamaran, which had a glass bottom, they took us to deeper waters, near the reef and started feeding the fish. Cold sweat was running all over me. Although, it was quite early for the main meal, no one can ever be sure for the attitude of a hungry shark…The lady escorting us, must have understood my fears and reassured us that the last time a shark had appeared in the waters of the lagoon was many years ago.

Yes, of course, but you don’t know anything about Christos’s legendary bad luck. Any time he approaches a cashier’s machine at the super market, the printing paper simply finishes!!

Let me make myself clearer. This didn’t happen just once. It happens always, every single time!!!

Anyway, I got into the water halfheartedly.

The streams were strong and we didn’t have any flippers. And our life jackets were very basic and with funny colors. And with the wrong funny colors, more over! We shouldn’t really talk about it. This day was a caricature of the previous one and the sunshine almost nonexistent.

At some point we started freezing into our wet swimming costumes. And we had once more the exhibition with the sarongs, once more the same humor, which becomes a farce when it repeats itself. The meal was just average. The only…novelty was the exhibition for the “fishing” and the opening of the coconut, another competition among the tourists, having to do with who could climb up faster on a coconut tree.

They forgot us at the airport!!!

The bad day starts early in the morning…

The cruise was over, we returned to the airport, we left the rental car and flew to Tahiti, to Papeete.

It was our first flight with Air Tahiti, which has the monopoly of the flights to and from French Polynesia. We travelled with a propeller aircraft. The weather was good during the flight and the views of the Morea islands and of Tahiti beautiful, just before our landing.

We get off the aircraft, take our suitcases, go to the arrivals area and, although all our co-passengers are happily surrounded by the tourist agents who welcome them with garlands of flowers, nobody is waiting for us.

What on earth has happened?

Is it again Christos’s bad luck, or is it what I have already said, about the ones who decide not to follow the…beaten track??

And then why did I do the booking through booking.com and exchanged e-mails with the guy from Studio Centre, who was supposed to come and pick us up?

That’s a good question, but I still don’t have the answer for it.

Luckily enough, there is a hotel  Tahiti Airport Motel

across the airport, up the hill, and luckily enough I am noisy and always claim my right, either wise…we would still wait for the particular guy to come and pick us up!

Not only they found us a room from the excellent office of international flights (since the international airport at Papeete doesn’t have an information desk or one that can offer services to the customers), but there was also a taxi coming in two minutes ready to pick us up!

So, the noisy, nagging Lena was on time at her bed, so as to rest, since there was a journey to Bora-Bora the next day and the flight was scheduled for very early in the morning.
